How long have you been a member of COLBA?
I think 3 years
What do you appreciate most about COLBA membership?
The ability to interact with my colleagues and competitors at the industry’s best and most topical events.
Tell us about your CRE background:
I started my career at Insignia/ESG which was acquired by CBRE. After 2 great years at the combined firm I moved to Transwestern. 9 years later I joined Colliers International. I’ve had the pleasure of working with some of the best brokers in the city and have learned a ton for all them.
What is your advice for young brokers starting out in the industry?
Get ready to work your tail off! The people who don’t make it are the ones who have their hands out and complain they aren’t getting anything from the company or their senior mentors. The ones who do make it are the ones who make their own luck. You need to put yourself in the mindset of having just started your own business.
What do you expect to see in the CRE market for 2014?
Continued tightening of the CBD Chicago sub market and then more of the upward rental rate creeping that we’ve already seen. Transactions will happen more often and much faster with the real fear of “if you don’t take it, someone else will!”
What do you hope to accomplish this year as a part of COLBA?
As a board member I hope to continue supporting our industry community and helping the charities we as a board and organization support.
What are some of your philanthropic associations?
Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Catholic Charities of Chicago
What do you like to do in your free time?
Spend time with family, run and root for basically all Chicago sports teams
If you weren’t in Real Estate what would you like to be doing……….
Center field for my beloved Chicago Cubs
Most folks don’t know that I am……
A grade school classmate and former little league teammate of the infamous Steve Bartman.
